Looking Back at Summer 2026

What a summer it was at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery! From fascinating exhibitions and creative programs to special events and plenty of moments spent together in the galleries and gardens, Summer 2026 was full of art, discovery, and community.

Throughout the season, visitors explored a wide range of themes and artistic traditions. We celebrated the remarkable contributions of women artists in Sisters in Art: Rebels of Europe, stepped into the world of Museum Menagerie, celebrated America’s 250th birthday with America’s 250, and welcomed our community’s four-legged companions through Whiskers & Wags: Our Candid Companions. From paintings and sculpture to photography, textiles, and design, there was always something new to discover.

Our summer calendar was just as busy outside the galleries. Families joined us for storytimes and hands-on activities, visitors enjoyed special programs and events, and our gardens provided the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the season. We loved seeing familiar faces return again and again, as well as welcoming new visitors discovering the Norton for the first time.

Most of all, this summer reminded us why museums matter. They are places to gather, learn, be inspired, make memories, and experience something unexpected. Thank you to everyone who visited, participated in a program, shared a photo, brought a friend, or simply spent a little time enjoying the Norton this summer.

As we look back on Summer 2026, we are grateful for all of the incredible themes, conversations, creativity, and memories we shared together. And, of course, we’re already looking forward to everything still to come!

Thank you for making Summer 2026 at the Norton one to remember.
