DESCRIPTION:Museum Menagerie brings the animal kingdom indoors. Drawn entirely from the R.W. Norton Art Gallery’s permanent collection\, it features works in a variety of media\, including sculptures\, drawings\, paintings\, prints\, and more. This exhibition explores how artists have used their artistic expressions to observe and reimagine animals as companions\, symbols\, and interpretations of the natural world. \nFrom intimate studies to imaginative portrayals\, Museum Menagerie invites visitors of all ages to look closely at the relationship between humans and animals\, and how that enduring fascination is translated through art. Together\, these works celebrate the artistic practice in portraying the beauty\, character\, and presence of these denizens of the wild places. \nMuseum Menagerie is on view 4 June – 2 August 2026.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all young artists\, drama kids\, storytellers\, and daydreamers! \nThe R.W. Norton Art Gallery will be offering two\, week-long Theatre Camps this summer for students. Canvas to Curtain Camp 2: June 8 – 12 invites students who have completed 2nd\, 3rd\, and 4th grades (rising into 3rd\, 4th\, or 5th grade.) \nThis summer\, let your imagination run wild at Canvas to Curtain: Bringing Art to Life\, the R.W. Norton Art Gallery’s one-of-a-kind theatre camp where paintings leap off the wall and into a performance! Campers will choose a piece from the museum’s permanent collection as their muse\, then dive into the creative process—writing scripts\, building characters\, and acting out original one-act plays inspired by the art. With plenty of laughs\, hands-on activities\, and time to collaborate\, it’s the perfect place to explore theatre and art at the same time! Whether you’re a born performer\, a behind-the-scenes thinker\, or just love making cool stuff with cool people\, this camp is your stage to be you! Come turn the brushstrokes into backstories\, and see what happens when you give art a new story! \nDates: Monday\, June 8 – Friday\, June 12 \nTimes: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM \nLocation: 4747 Creswell Ave. Shreveport\, LA 71106 \nFee: $30 \nAttending campers will need to be delivered to our camp staff in front of the museum no later then 7:50 AM. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from camp each day. We will provide each student with a snack and drink. \nStudents wishing to attend a camp need to have a parent purchase a ticket through Eventbrite. Once purchased\, you will receive an email confirmation from the Norton with an application attached. Please complete the application and return it to the museum via email at least one week before your child’s camp begins. \nEmail: staffnorton@gmail.com \nIf a camper should become unable to attend\, please notify us at the above email so that we may release that position to another child.
