June

June is the time for "snow", when white blossoms of hydrangeas and other flowers make this a really beautiful month in our botanical gardens. You'll also learn about the "golden mean", the life of Hudson River School artist Frederic Church, and "First Saturday Tours" that give you deep insights into art and artists at the Norton. Also, you'll discover how the Norton is helping pioneer art education throughout the state of Louisiana. Don't miss our newsletter on our website!

May
This month, come to the north and head out to the plains to see the masterful work by John Mix Stanley, "Seeking a Home". Some very good sleuthing by our Jerry Bloomer finally discovered the artist's real title for the painting. We were happy to make the change correct. Elsewhere this month, in the newsletter you'll note our exhibit, "American Still LIfes", is extended through 31 August, while the exhibit in our Research Library, "Men of Letters", is on view weekends through 1 June. From 1 June - 31 August in the Research Library, our "Dali Prints from Alice in Wonderland" will amaze you. Our gardens are in their seasonal glory as this month transitions from spring to summer. Enjoy R.W. Norton Art Gallery in this newsletter, as well as here in Shreveport. We hope to see you soon!
