It is impossible to list all of the achievements of Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826) in a short form. To list only a few, he was the 3rd President of the United States, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom, the founder of the University of Virginia, and, just to mention a few other accomplishments, a horticulturist, architect, archaeologist, paleontologist, inventor, diplomat, and statesman who held a number of major positions in government.
